Talsint Mesosiderite Meteorite Slice – 4.33 g
Talsint Mesosiderite Meteorite Slice
This rare Talsint Mesosiderite meteorite slice comes from the Eastern Morocco fall site near Talsint (32.5940°N, 3.4475°W), discovered in March 2017. Classified as a Mesosiderite stony-iron meteorite, it represents a fascinating brecciated mixture of silicate clasts and metallic nickel-iron.
The polished slice beautifully displays its low-Ca pyroxene and plagioclase clasts, set in a fine-grained matrix with evenly dispersed kamacite, taenite, and tetrataenite metal. Mesosiderites are thought to have formed through ancient asteroid collisions, mixing crustal rock with core metal in spectacular fashion.
