EU Shipping, VAT & Import Charges (2026)

European Union Shipping, VAT and Import Charges — 2026

Buy Meteorite LLC is registered in the United States. Our physical meteorites, minerals and collectibles are packed and dispatched from Morocco via tracked DHL Express. An EU order is therefore an import from outside the EU.

Shipping price and delivery

Shipping rates depend on your delivery country and order subtotal after discounts, with the precise rate displayed at checkout. DHL Express tracking is provided. Estimated transit is typically 7–10 days after dispatch, subject to customs clearance, carrier conditions and remote areas. Our European shipping zone also includes non-EU countries such as the United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland; EU customs rules do not automatically apply to those destinations.

EU import VAT, customs duties and the Union handling fee

EU import VAT may apply independently of the DHL shipping charge. Certain customs-clearance or carrier charges may also be assessed under the legally applicable import arrangements. A charge is prepaid only if checkout explicitly itemises it as collected; our shipping rate alone is not a guarantee that import taxes have been paid.

From 1 July 2026, an interim €3 customs duty applies to qualifying low-value e-commerce consignments up to €150, calculated per applicable customs tariff classification rather than per identical physical unit. From 1 November 2026, the EU also applies a €2 Union handling fee per declaration line on relevant e-commerce imports, including those above €150. These are separate legal measures.

Important: under EU rules, the customs declarant/importer is generally responsible for declaring and paying these duty and handling charges. It is inaccurate to assume that an EU consumer must personally pay €3 + €2 simply because a shipment is imported. The precise financial treatment, including any VAT or carrier collection from the recipient, depends on the shipment terms, importer-of-record arrangements, declaration and applicable law. Please ask for clarification before ordering if your import-charge arrangements matter to your decision.

Product identifiers and customs documentation

Since 1 November 2026, applicable EU e-commerce customs declarations require product identifiers or an allowed exemption for certain collectible goods. For accurate clearance, the shipment documentation must contain a truthful product description, appropriate tariff classification, value and origin. Unique meteorites do not necessarily have a conventional UPC/EAN barcode.

Returns and consumer rights

EU statutory withdrawal rights, the delivery-risk rules and remedies for non-conforming goods remain applicable. Read how to exercise the EU right of withdrawal and our published returns policy.
