NWA 11756 – Olivine-rich material from the interior of an early asteroid

This brachinite meteorite (NWA 11756) is a rare type of primitive achondrite, formed through partial melting processes inside early asteroids.

Unlike ordinary meteorites, this specimen represents olivine-rich material derived from the interior of a differentiated asteroid, providing valuable insight into early planetary formation.

Brachinites are among the rarest meteorites and are known for their high olivine content (~70–80%), giving them a distinctive ultramafic composition.

Scientific research indicates that brachinites may originate from multiple asteroid parent bodies, making them particularly important for understanding the diversity of materials in the early Solar System.

This piece is offered as a slice, allowing direct observation of its internal structure.

  • Type: Brachinite meteorite
  • Classification: Primitive achondrite
  • Composition: Olivine-rich (~70–80%)
