Talsint Mesosiderite Meteorite Slice

This authentic slice of the Talsint mesosiderite meteorite originates from the famous fall site near Talsint in Eastern Morocco (32.5940°N, 3.4475°W). Mesosiderites are rare stony-iron meteorites composed of a mixture of silicate minerals and metallic nickel-iron.

The polished surface clearly displays the classic mesosiderite brecciated structure with silicate clasts embedded within a metallic matrix. Visible minerals include low-Ca pyroxene and plagioclase along with iron-nickel metal phases such as kamacite and taenite.

Mesosiderites formed during ancient asteroid collisions that mixed crustal rock with metallic core material, producing one of the most fascinating meteorite textures known.
