Eucrite Meteorites – Basaltic Achondrites from Vesta

Eucrites are the most common type of achondrite meteorites, stony meteorites that lack chondrules and formed on differentiated parent bodies. Composed mainly of Fe-rich pyroxene and Na-poor plagioclase, eucrites represent ancient volcanic activity on small planetary bodies.

Part of the HED group (howardites, eucrites, diogenites), these meteorites are strongly linked to asteroid 4 Vesta, making them fragments of one of the largest bodies in the asteroid belt. Their textures and mineral composition reveal processes of planetary differentiation and igneous history beyond Earth.
