NWA 17492  H5 Ordinary Chondrite Meteorite

Northwest Africa 17492  (NWA 17492) is an officially classified H5 ordinary chondrite discovered in 2024 and purchased in Guelmim, Morocco  showIing a Chondritic texture with many chondrules still visible. The matrix is totally recrystallized, while the whole sample is crosscut by fractures filled with secondary weathering products. Chondrules have still visible borders, recognizable only by contrast with the fractured matrix texture. Silicates display fresh aspect, some opaque phase patches (FeNi metallic and sulfides) are marginally replaced by secondary Fe-oxy-hydroxides whereas large portions still fresh. Minor phases are chromite and Ca-phosphates which reach size up to 300 μm.
